Howdens Joinery, Dartford and Wellbeing Link

Our work supporting individuals through wellbeing groups would not be possible without the encouragement and backing of local partners who believe in what we do. That is why we would like to take a moment to share our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful team at Howdens Joinery in Dartford.

Sometimes, the most meaningful stories in our community begin with a simple conversation.

When we first spoke with the team at in, we were discussing the ongoing work of our support groups, the people who attend them, and the difference consistent, compassionate spaces can make in someone’s life. What followed was not just a kind gesture, but a powerful example of what community partnership really looks like.

The Dartford branch generously donated a Rangemaster cooker, produced by, to help boost one of our fundraising initiatives. At first glance, it may have seemed like a single item — a beautifully crafted appliance ready for a new home. But for us, it represented opportunity.

We incorporated the cooker into our fundraising efforts, and the response from our supporters was fantastic. Tickets were bought, conversations were sparked, and excitement built as the draw approached. The result? Over £1,100 raised — funds that will now be channelled directly back into our wellbeing groups.

Behind that figure are real people.

There is the individual who attends our weekly group after months of isolation, slowly rebuilding their confidence through shared experiences. There is the carer who finds reassurance in connecting with others who truly understand. There is the person who walks through our doors for the first time, feeling anxious, only to leave knowing they have found a supportive community.

Every pound raised helps us keep those doors open. It helps cover room hire, materials, refreshments, and the practical elements that allow us to provide safe, welcoming environments where people feel heard and valued. The donation from Howdens Joinery did not just fund a session — it strengthened a lifeline.

What stood out most throughout this process was the warmth and enthusiasm of the Howdens team. Their support was not transactional; it was thoughtful and genuine. They understood that by backing a local charity, they were investing directly into the wellbeing of their own community.

In a time when charities are facing increasing pressures and rising costs, partnerships like this make an enormous difference. They show what can happen when local businesses and local organisations work side by side with a shared goal: creating stronger, healthier communities.
We are incredibly grateful to Howdens Joinery in Dartford for their generosity and continued support. Their contribution will have a lasting impact — not just measured in pounds raised, but in conversations sparked, confidence rebuilt, and connections formed.

Sometimes, it starts with a conversation. Sometimes, it becomes something much bigger.
